Help

Welcome to Springer e.Proofing system.

e.Proofing system is a unique solution that will enable you (author) to remotely edit/correct your article/proof. The purpose of this tool is to speed up the correction cycle of your article and move it to the next stage.

e.Proofing is a simple, self-explanatory system. Here you will view your article like a “Microsoft Word” document and editing is little different from the regular word processing software.

System Requirements

Any Laptop or Desktop system that supports following browsers:

  1. Internet Explorer Version 7.0 or higher
  2. Firefox Version 4.0 or higher.
  3. Google Chrome 8.0 or higher
  4. Safari Version 4.0 or higher
  • Any of the latest mobile devices capable of running above browsers
  • JavaScript should be enabled in the browsers.

Note:

If your browser version is lower than the specified version then you can visit the browser website and upgrade your browser.

You can also down load the proof PDF and send your correction as PDF annotation (comments) or by email.

Document Editing

Note: This e.Proofing system does not function like any other general software editing tools (e.g. Microsoft Word or Open Office). The "Delete" and/or "Backspace" keys of your keyboard will not function directly on the editing window.

Equation/Math Corrections

Equation/Math-related corrections are handled through a LaTex interface. Both inline and display equations are coloured and on moving the mouse pointer you will see a small pop-up stating that "Click here to edit". The tool allows equation editing only through LaTex. If you are not familiar with LaTex, there are plenty of documents available on the net for reference. On clicking the equation (inline or display), a new browser window will open up. This window has three areas. The left side has 6 menus listing various math commands. Right top area is for editing LaTeX equations. Right bottom area is for displaying actual equations. Any editing in the top area will affect the equation. After changing the equation in the LaTex area, check the equation view. On completion, click the "Submit" button to update your article and "Close" button will ignore/discard all the corrections made on the equation. On successful update, the corrected equation will have a "Red" color border to show that something has been changed in that equation. If needed, click "Save" button to save your article.

Image Corrections

Image-related corrections are handled differently in this editor. Click on the location of the image where you need corrections that need to be inserted/changed. You will see a small region box and area to enter text. You can drag the region bigger if needed. Key-in the required changes and click the small "OK" button. These corrections will be visible only when your mouse is on the image. To delete a particular correction click on the small region box and you will see the same box open up. Here you can click the "Delete" button to delete that correction. There is no edit option available. Hence to modify a correction, please delete the correction and then insert a new one.

Corrections in Author Name/Affiliations

Similar to math editing, e.Proofing provides a separate interface for editing author names and affiliations. On clicking the author name, only the "Change" button will be enabled. On clicking the change button you will see a popup window with different fields. You can change the details if needed. These changes cannot be undone using the "Undo" option.

Author Queries

During the process of typesetting your article, few queries may have arisen. Using this section of this tool you can respond to your queries. Before proceeding please save your corrections. On the main correction page you will see the pending queries if any. You can click the "Author Query" tab to respond to your queries. Here you will see the list of queries. To add your response, please click the "Edit" button and you will see a pop up box. Here you can enter your response. If you need to update your response, you can click the "Edit" button again. You can go back to your main correction page by clicking the "Online Correction Tab". If there are no pending queries then you will see a new "Submit" button. You can submit your correction using this button.

File Attachment

During the proofing stage if you need to change a particular image or add more details you can attach them as external files. To attach files, click on the "Attachment Tab". You can select your file using the "Browse" button and click the "Attach File" button to attach. You can remove a file using the delete icon.
